Toyota settled one championship in Barcelona and tightened its grip on another. The #8 TR010 Hybrid of Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryō Hirakawa won the 6 Hours of Barcelona on 18 October ahead of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries in the sister #7. The one-two secured the 2026 FIA WEC Hypercar manufacturers' title with one round remaining.

For Toyota, the distinction matters. The manufacturer can go to Monza with its collective objective achieved, while its two leading crews still have a drivers' championship to resolve. The official standings put #8 on 114 points and #7 on 97: a 17-point difference before the finale on 8 November.

A result built at the front

FIA WEC's official race report describes #8 as leading decisively from the first hour. The series records this as the crew's second consecutive victory and third win of the 2026 campaign. That sequence turned Barcelona into more than an isolated strong result: the winning crew arrives at the final round with both momentum and a measurable advantage.

The final FIA classification places #8 first and #7 second, with the #50 Ferrari of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen completing the Hypercar podium. Toyota did not need a result rescued by a solitary car; both entries reached the front of the finishing order.

Ferrari's official account describes a race that started on wet tyres before the circuit dried and crews switched to slicks. The changing surface makes Toyota's outcome particularly clear: whatever the conditions demanded across the afternoon, the same manufacturer occupied the first two positions at the finish.

The title that is won, and the one that is not

Toyota now has 212 manufacturers' points, ahead of BMW on 154 and Ferrari on 130 in the FIA WEC standings. The series explicitly confirms Toyota as manufacturers' champion. This is not an announcement of a drivers' title for Buemi, Hartley and Hirakawa.

Their 17-point advantage is substantial, but the drivers' championship remains a separate contest. Conway, Kobayashi and de Vries are the nearest crew in the published standings, and Monza still supplies one more race in which those totals can change.

Barcelona therefore leaves Toyota with two different tasks completed to different degrees: the manufacturers' crown is secured; the leading crew's final step still lies ahead. That distinction is the story behind the one-two, not simply the fact that two identical cars finished together.

Monza is next

The season ends with the 6 Hours of Monza on 8 November. Toyota will arrive as the confirmed manufacturers' champion, with #8 leading #7 in the drivers' table. No weather forecast, Balance of Performance change or predicted outcome is required to describe the stakes: one title has been won, and the other must still be settled on track.
