Genesis Magma Racing has confirmed Dani Juncadella as its first driver for the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship season. The announcement came in Barcelona during the Spanish round of the WEC, giving the home driver an early place in the team’s plans for its second Hypercar campaign.\n\nJuncadella has been part of Genesis Magma Racing’s first WEC season in 2026, sharing the #19 GMR-001 with Paul-Loup Chatin and Mathieu Jaminet. Genesis says the 35-year-old has also contributed to the development of the car since joining the programme before its championship debut.\n\nThe timing of the announcement ties the sporting decision to a significant weekend for both driver and manufacturer. Barcelona is hosting the WEC for the first time, while Genesis is using the event to underline Spain’s role in its wider European expansion.\n\nJuncadella described his first Hypercar season as a learning process and said both he and the team have improved during the year. Sporting director Gabriele Tarquini pointed to the Spaniard’s consistency and recent WEC experience as key reasons for retaining him.\n\nThe confirmation means Genesis has begun locking in its 2027 line-up before the current season is finished. The rest of the driver roster has not yet been announced. For Juncadella, the deal provides continuity as Genesis moves from its debut year toward a second season in which execution and results will be expected to match the progress already shown by the GMR-001.
